How to Fill Up a Hot Tub

  1. Prepare the Hot Tub
    • Ensure the hot tub is clean and free of debris.
    • Check the drain valve to ensure it is closed securely.
    • Install or inspect the filter to make sure it is clean and properly fitted.
  2. Choose a Water Source
    • Connect a garden hose to an appropriate water source.
    • If you have hard water, consider using a pre-filter on the hose to reduce minerals and impurities.
  3. Position the Hose
    • Place the hose inside the hot tub, preferably in the filter compartment to help remove air from the plumbing lines as the tub fills.
  4. Turn on the Water
    • Slowly turn on the water to begin filling the hot tub.
    • Monitor the flow to ensure the hose stays in place and the water is flowing steadily.
  5. Fill to the Recommended Level
    • Fill the hot tub until the water reaches the midpoint of the skimmer or slightly above the highest jet, as indicated in the user manual.
    • Avoid overfilling, as this could cause spillage when the jets are turned on or when people enter the tub.
  6. Check for Leaks
    • Inspect the hot tub and plumbing connections for any leaks during the filling process.
  7. Turn Off the Water
    • Once the tub is filled to the proper level, turn off the water supply and remove the hose.
  8. Power On the Hot Tub
    • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to power on the hot tub.
    • Allow the pump to circulate water and release any trapped air in the system.
  9. Balance the Water Chemistry
    • Test the water using a test strip or kit to check pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels.
    • Adjust the water chemistry as needed using the appropriate chemicals.
  10. Heat the Water
  • Set the thermostat to your desired temperature (typically 100°F–104°F).
  • Allow the heater to warm the water, which can take several hours.
  1. Enjoy!
  • Once the hot tub reaches the desired temperature and the water chemistry is balanced, it’s ready for use.

Tips!

  • Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific hot tub model.
  • Regularly clean and maintain your hot tub to ensure long-term performance and safety.
  • Consider investing in a hot tub cover to keep debris out and maintain water temperature when not in use.
